Regards -Jamie. I'm working for a client that intends to upgrade, but has not done so yet. We believed that we had days from the date of installation before it would expire late July. What can I do? I thought that maybe installing Visual Studio express might work, but when I went there, it seems that it is split up into modules e. I don't know if just one of these would be sufficient and if so, which one.
My contract is up at the end of June, and it was understood that the client was going to take care of the upgrade. Is there a quick fix here? What can I do with minimal effort? I don't really have time to wait for the client to get the upgrade approved and done.
I know, sniff, sniff! Greetings, I seem to be getting a problem during installing SQL 7. It tells me that there are ODBC components need to be upgraded and they are read only I can find no way of changing this. Alternatively if I remove the beta and then install the proper version, will all the old db created under the beta still be recognised?

If you encounter either or both of the above error dialogs, you can use the following steps to resolve the errors: 1. Download and run msiinv. Look at the output from msiinv. Click on the Start menu, choose Run and type cmd 4. For each of the SQL product codes found in the msiinv. Download the smartmsizap tool 6. Also modified the uninstall instructions to use the smartmsizap tool that I had not yet written at the time that I originally wrote this blog post.
I really appreciate it :thumb up:! However, by posting my question, I even forwarded it to a friend of mine which is a more experienced IT'er than me. He gave me some solutions and it was like you suggested too, to remove SQL manully from the server. Use regedt32 and check the box to take ownership of all subkeys as well. Can I just delete the file folders to remove it, or do I have to finish the install, then go through the uninstall process?
I would rather avoid the install because it has caused problems for a co-worker and I don't want to run into similar issues. This may be the silliest question you guys see on the boards, but I would rather look stupid then to do something I shouldn't and screw up my computer.
