Just this little clarification shows how bad the naming scheme by Microsoft is. I can't say much about application development, but their marketing guys must improve soon.

For pure application development, an x64 based system sould be fine appart from the x86 emulator issue.
We don't design our own OS but we need to develop and test our applications on devices built with CE 5, the Motorola and Intermecs of the world.
