Xbox games don't have individual ID's so there is no way for MS to know that you own the game to be able to provide you with a down-loadable copy. Also, MS does not store all Xbox games on its servers. If you have a scratched game that is recognised when you insert it, but either does not play correctly or does not install, there are couple of ways you can still play your game. Borrow your friends copy, install it to your hard drive and then use your disc to run the game.
If you're game is so badly damaged that it isn't even recognised when you insert it, then your only choice is to buy another copy. Or you could just take better care of your discs. Some people like me have kids, you can take as good a care of your discs as possible, and your kids can ruin them As on mine my xbox gave it a perfect circle scratch all around the edge.
I played the Halo game like 5 -7times in the first year I had it. Then for Christmas the following year they bought me a couple more games. I thought the console was moved while spinning. By the time I found out about what the real problem was , I was in my years of ownership, and I now had no recourse of a new console or replacement of all the games or the half dozen movies that were ruined by it. And for the games? Of course [Mod Removed] Microsoft wanted 20 bucks for each game.
They certainly weren't going to compensate me for the movies either. Then the hard drive went in it, and I wasn't getting another one at a cost of over bucks for that. Checking out your posts on the forums I can see that the scratches on your discs are circular ones. This means that the console was moved while on and the disc was inside. The movement may have been purposeful or accidental. If you have your console on it's side it is recommended to lay it flat to prevent this from happening.
It has nothing to do with the console but an accidental movement of the console. You would never want to move a dvd player or computer disc drive while there's a disc inside so it would stand to reason you don't want the same to happen here.
I understand that you're upset and frustrated but if you are careful and ensure that the console is on a flat, stable surface you will be able to enjoy many years of game-playing and movie watching on your console just as I have done. I have had a console for about 7 or 8 years now and have only had to change it once due to age issues. Come on though, there's gotta be a way for us to put our Disc in the tray and MS to send us maybe the 10 megabytes we need to continue installing.
This day in age, you can't tell me there's no way to verify! Everyone else says install off your friends game disc! If it still doesn't work, you can go another round with the magic eraser, or try another method from this article. Method 5. Purchase a disc scratch repair tool.
There are a variety of tools available online and at electronics retailers. One of the most popular products is the SkipDr, though there are several others available as well. Rinse and dry the disc before using the disc repair tool.
Use warm water to rinse any debris and dust off of the disc, then dry it off with a microfiber cloth. Most repair kits come with a soft cloth you can use.
Spray the included cleaner fluid onto the "read" side of the disc. Don't spray it onto the label. Apply an even coat across the entire "read" side of the disc.
Insert the disc into the repair tool. The process for this will vary depending on the tool you are using. Make sure the "read" side is facing the scrubbing pad on the repair tool. Refer to the instructions to make sure you are inserting the disc properly. Press the mechanism to spin the disc in the repair tool. You may need to turn a crank or press a button to make the disc spin. The repair tool will spin the disc, rubbing the cleaning pad across the "read" side.
Buff the disc with the included buffing cloth. Many repair kits come with a buffing cloth, which you'll use to buff the disc after repairing it.
Vigorous buffing will help ensure that the disc can be read. Insert the repaired disc into your Xbox console and try playing it. If it still doesn't work, you can repeat the repair process again. Some users have reported it taking up to ten tries to get a game to work. Some scratches may be too deep to repair using these tools. If the console is tilted or bumped during play, this can cause the disc to be scratched. Ensure that boisterous siblings or curious pets cannot get near the console while it is in use or whenever there is a disc inside.

Take it to a local dvd store but not block buster 2. Buy another one. I have a pretty large collection of games, programs and DVDs. The boiling in water was one that will only completely destroy my disc forever. A friend told me about a company called Media Wizard so I try them out with a couple of my really bad damaged disc and to my amazement they came back looking like new even the ones with the circular scratches.
They are reasonably priced and larger the order, lower the price. You can find them at mediawizard. Hope this helps you out. Finest Glasses answered. Hey big piece of irony.
I was looking for how to clean the "perfect scratch" because my got knocked over while playing it. The irony part comes in that the game I was playing was Fable 2 :Dit isn't my favorite game, Dragon quest 8 is.
Though I want to deny it, is to go to a place with a disk cleaner. It seems to be game store or just stores with disk cleaners work better than ones at home. Hope I helped in some way.
