Demo doesnt work on vista

Ive had it trying for over 12 hours before and it makes no progress. There use to be updates available when i first had this problem about a year ago but I had tried something a while back and erased all available updates as well as my history of updates.

Ive noticed i cant download other things on my computer either like Java. Every time i turn on my computer Java tells me there is an update and every time i try to down load, it gives me error code This thread is locked. I've tried the Microsoft Fix-IT that doesn't work. I am so frustrated. I do not want Windows 7 as that is a complete overhaul to my existing system.
